Nadeem will face stiff competition from Indian rival Neeraj Chopra, Peters and Pathirage
Arshad Nadeem Set to Face Neeraj Chopra and Top Throwers at Lausanne Diamond League

KARACHI — Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has been included in the entry list for the men’s javelin throw event at the Lausanne Diamond League 2026, scheduled for August 21.
According to the list released by event organizers, Nadeem will compete against some of the world’s leading javelin throwers, including his long-time rival Neeraj Chopra of India, two-time world champion Anderson Peters, and recently crowned Commonwealth Games gold medalist and world leader Rumesh Pathirage.
The competition will also feature renowned athletes such as Thomas Röhler of Germany and Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago, making the 2026 Diamond League event one of the most competitive editions in recent years.
Nadeem will enter the event after a disappointing performance at the Commonwealth Games 2022, where he was unable to defend his title and finished ninth in the 12-athlete final.
The Pakistani star had won gold at the previous Commonwealth Games with a remarkable 90.18-metre throw. However, his title defence started with a foul attempt. He later recorded 77.41 metres in his second throw but slipped to ninth place after the opening round.
Despite needing a stronger third attempt to remain in medal contention, Nadeem managed only 75.39 metres, ending his campaign outside the medal positions.
