14-Year-Old Student Opens Fire at Thailand School, Five Killed and Over 20 Injured

NONTHABURI, Thailand — A 14-year-old student carried out a shooting at a high school near Bangkok on Friday, leaving at least five people dead and more than 20 others injured, Thai authorities confirmed.

Officials said the teenager had allegedly killed his two grandparents at their family residence earlier in the morning before heading to Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Nonthaburi province, northwest of Bangkok, where the shooting took place.

Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee said five school employees, including teachers and administrative staff, lost their lives in the attack, which occurred at around 10 a.m.

Authorities said the student later died at the school after the incident.

Meanwhile, Bangyai Hospital reported that 23 people were injured, with 10 in critical condition. Most of the victims suffered gunshot wounds.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the motive behind the attack and gather further details about the incident.
