Military leadership ,Palistan Armed forced reaffirm support for Kashmiris on youm-e-Istehsal voices concern over the continued presence of Indian security forces in IIOJK.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan expressed solidarity with the people of IIOJK and reiterated support for their right to self-determination.

Observed annually on August 5, Youm-e-Istehsal marks Pakistan’s protest against India’s 2019 decision to revoke Article 370 of its Constitution, ending the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and reorganising the region into two union territories.

The military leadership said the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination is an inalienable right recognised under international law and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The statement also expressed concern over the continued presence of Indian security forces in IIOJK, alleging prolonged military restrictions, human rights violations, and efforts to alter the region’s demographic composition. It warned that such actions, along with escalating rhetoric, risk further destabilising the region and prolonging the suffering of its people.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, the ISPR said a durable peace in South Asia is not possible without a peaceful and just settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute that reflects the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and complies with relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The statement concluded by paying tribute to those who lost their lives in IIOJK and reaffirming Pakistan’s continued support for the Kashmiri people’s pursuit of self-determination.
