Digital reforms to feature home delivery and QR code-based payments for faster services

Director General of Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Friday introduced an ambitious digital reform initiative that includes a passport mobile application, doorstep delivery, and QR code-based payment systems aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and eliminating illegal practices.
He told a media outlet that the mobile app will enable citizens to apply for and renew passports online, track their applications in real time, and access key services easily through their smartphones.
He said the department is also planning to launch a home delivery service, allowing applicants to receive their passports at their doorstep and reducing the need for repeated visits to passport offices.
Randhawa further stated that a QR code-based digital payment system will soon be introduced to ensure secure and transparent transactions while also helping to curb illegal practices and eliminate the role of middlemen.
He added that these reforms are being implemented under the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, with the aim of modernising passport services and improving public convenience across the country.
The Director General stressed that the digital transformation initiative reflects the government’s commitment to efficient and citizen-focused governance by using technology to provide faster and more reliable services.
He concluded that the reforms are designed to create a transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly passport system where corruption, middlemen, and illegal practices have no place, ensuring fair and secure services for every applicant.
