ICC unveils Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament; Pakistan’s Fatima Sana included

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced its Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament, with Pakistan captain Fatima Sana earning a well-deserved place after an outstanding all-round campaign.

Fatima impressed throughout the tournament with both bat and ball, playing several match-winning innings and delivering crucial breakthroughs for Pakistan. Her consistent performances earned her recognition among the competition’s top performers.

The Team of the Tournament features 12 players from eight different countries, highlighting the global talent on display during the Women’s T20 World Cup. Fatima Sana’s inclusion also marks a significant achievement for Pakistan women’s cricket, reflecting her growing reputation as one of the world’s leading all-rounders.

World champions Australia dominated the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament with four players, while runners-up England secured two spots in the 12-member lineup.

Australia’s strong representation reflected its commanding campaign, which ended with a record-extending seventh Women’s T20 World Cup title.

The remaining places were shared among Pakistan, India, South Africa, Ireland and Sri Lanka, with each nation represented by one player. Scotland’s Darcey Carter was selected as the tournament’s 12th player, recognizing her impressive performances throughout the competition.

The ICC praised Pakistan captain Fatima Sana as the “beating heart” of the national side, recognizing her match-winning contributions throughout the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.

One of her finest performances came against South Africa, where she scored an unbeaten 55 after Pakistan had slumped to 50-8, before producing a superb bowling spell of 3-16 that nearly inspired an unlikely victory.

Fatima also starred in Pakistan’s final group-stage match against the Netherlands, claiming 3-12 to help secure a convincing 37-run win, the team’s only victory of the tournament.

England opener Danni Wyatt-Hodge finished as the tournament’s highest run-scorer with 302 runs, while India’s Sree Charani emerged as the leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets.

Australia’s Beth Mooney, who amassed 238 runs and delivered crucial innings in both the semi-final and final, was named the Player of the Tournament after playing a key role in Australia’s record-extending seventh Women’s T20 World Cup triumph.
